Bridge City Soccer Academy was founded in 2019, on the firm belief that every young player should be in control of her own pathway; not only as a soccer player, but also as a person. Our main objective is to give control and decision-making back to the player, both on the field and in life.

Our Vision

Bridge City Soccer Academy uses the game of soccer as a vehicle to empower young women of all backgrounds to succeed as coaches, athletes and leaders in their communities.

Our Values

Mastery: We are lifelong learners, fiercely dedicated to the continuous development of players and coaches. We break away from traditional norms of structuring by age group, and focus team placement based on the needs and skill level of the individual player.

Diversity & Inclusion: We provide an enhanced experience to all players, regardless of socio-economic status, or skill level.  We believe in the potential of all players.

Community: We are focused on, and part of, a larger community - beyond the field of play.

Transparency and Honesty: Is at the forefront of our coaching and leadership; it is paramount and non-negotiable, from coaches, parents and players.

Compassion and Empathy: We seek to understand the point of view of others, and care about doing the right thing.

Professionalism: We set high standards for our players, coaches and leadership. We promote a spirit that aspires to excellence in everything we do.

Our Crest

The crest for BCSA represents two of the steadfast icons of Portland.

First, our namesake, the bridges. The 12 stripes represent the 12 bridges that cross the Willamette River. They are inverted from left to right as a nod to the different perspectives experienced from one side of a bridge to the other.

Second, the swift. A symbol of speed and teamwork, it is also reminiscent of Oregon's state motto, "Alis volat propriis" or "She flies with her own wings." Athletes wearing this crest will embody the strength and connection of our bridges, and the agility and fellowship of the swifts.

Our Philosophy

Bridge City’s focus is on developing the individual player and using the game as the tool to further drive their technical, tactical, physical and mental development of the game. Developing the whole individual not just a player.

  • We will never recruit.

  • Development of girls as players + people always comes first.

  • The game should be a joy, not a job.

  • ALL players deserve excellent technical and tactical training.

  •  We coach the individual to ensure the success of the team.

  • Coaches + families + players will always uphold the highest standard of integrity.

  • Players have accountability to themselves and their teammates.

  • We pursue success but are never afraid of losing; we learn more from failure than from success.

  • Our focus is on individual development vs winning games. A TEAM IS A TOOL TO DEVELOP PLAYERS; A PLAYER IS NOT A TOOL TO DEVELOP A TEAM. The game of soccer is a tool to aid in that development as well. Winning is simply a by-product of a player’s development in training and games.

  • We develop players that possess the ability to adapt to the nuances of the game. Over the course of a player’s growth, she is presented with a variety of game-like situations and is put in a variety of positions on the field, all the while being taught the tools to deal with those situations. We challenge a player to step outside her comfort zone and embrace the learning experience.

  • We focus on the details of the technical skill but believe that developing skillful players is the foundation to players success. We create training environments that place our players in game like situations to develop their key qualities and in turn improve their player actions. Creating skillful players as opposed to strictly technical players.
